Those selfless celebrities!

Christian Science Monitor has a great piece on celebrity charity giving. It examines public giving by celebrities. On one hand it seems to be shameless self-promotion, but on the other the more attention on what they are giving to will bring more money to that charity. Which one is it? It is hard to say but I think that it is like many other things. It benefits both so why not. I definitely don't have a problem with it. To me it is kind of like the War in Iraq. Is the US doing a good thing? Yes. Did the US do it purely for the good of the Iraqi people? No, it did not. We get to eliminate a threat to the world and possibly spread democracy in the area of the world that breeds terrorism, and the Iraqi's get freedom and self-determination.
