Locked out!

The NHL and its players continued to fail coming to an agreement. The NHL is losing money and they want to cut players' salaries. Let's face it here is the NHL chain of events: Expansion of teams has caused lots of not-talented players to come in to the league. These players, without the skill, usually are young and strong, so what are they forced to do? They hold the skilled players; they interfere every second of the game. The referees refuse to call interference. This means we see 30 shots a game from the blue line. The goalies easily stop these shots. In addition to 30 goal line shots, we will see one game-ending mistake. The dilution of talent means that the trench warfare between two teams in a hockey game is usually broken by one of these inexperienced players making a huge mistake or two that costs their team the game. So in a 1-0 game the viewer gets to see almost no passing in the offensive zones, crappy shots from far away, a lot of saves, and not much free flow to the game. The viewer then gets to see the game decided by Joe Secondyearplayer who got away with a major penalty, took the puck, and ended this miserable game 1-0 (what is this, soccer?). The viewer then gets to see what else is on television. No talent=no exciting games=no viewers=no TV contracts=no sport marketability=revenue losses=whining on both sides. I would say the owners are at fault in the situation because they are the ones that expanded when they should have retracted and they refuse to crackdown on interference. You can tell the game is in trouble when a 6 seed makes the championship, and the year before a 7 seed. These teams were just young, strong, and had good goalies. So they just choked the talented teams they played and won a lot in overtime and one goal games. Seriously if the NHL really wanted to thrive they would hack about 10 teams from the league including the hurricanes, predators, stars, lightning, kings, and anyone else who sucks...
