No more Indians in championships
That is what the NCAA has decreed. Any college with the nickname of a native american tribe or otherwise deemed "hostile and abusive" has been banned from having their mascot show up at the championships. This "hostile and abusive" is strange because in 2002, Sports Illustrated polled the actual native american community and not just the leftist radical whackos that control everything and impose agendas for their own egos. This is taken from the Tongue Tied column on fox news-
A poll published in the March 4 issue of Sports Illustratedsuggests that the Indian team names so maligned by Native American activists are not nearly as offensive to the Native American community at large.
Asked if high school and college teams should stop using Indian nicknames, 81 percent of Native American respondents said no. As for pro sports, 83 percent of Native American respondents said teams should not stop using Indian nicknames, mascots, characters, and symbols. The poll also found that 75 percent of Native Americans don't think the use of these team names and mascots "contributes to discrimination."
The name "Redskins" doesn't seem to be especially controversial: 69 percent of Native Americans don't object to it. As a general rule, Indians on reservations were more sensitive about team names and mascots, but not to the point where a majority of them ever sided with the activists on these questions.
The Peter Harris Research Group polled 352 Native Americans
(217 living on reservations and 134 living off) and 743 sports fans on the subject.
SO HAHAHAHAHA YOU STUPID BASTARDS. Wake up and smell the coffee. When the supposedly "offended and abused" party overwhelmingly doesn't feel that way, then you are oppressing a minority by taking action on views they don't hold. This is like when John told Sarah what to think about women. STOP ELECTING YOURSELF REPRESENTATIVES OF EVERYBODY AND ACTING LIKE A MARTYR FOR SOME DIPSHIT CAUSE. I hate those people with a passion.
Native Americans are part of our history and we can use them as mascots. We use pioneers, 49ers, the Irish (or celtics), and a millions of other groups of people. How many people in this country have native american blood in them? I bet the number is really high, like 20% (Anyone know anything? I will try to research and find out). I know I am 1/16th Cherokee. Can I not celebrate my great great grandfather's heritage? The bottom line is that it is not offensive to the vast majority of native americans. I won't be watching any more NCAA championships just to protest.

Well now we need Liberals to keep us dastardly Conservatives from forcing our beliefs on everyone...
I'm something like 1/64th Chippewa, just enough to get into the tribe if I wanted to (or so I understand, I could be wrong). I have more Irish in my veins so that's the heritage I choose to embrace.
BTW, those Boston Celtics have to go, if only because they pronounce it wrong. I'm SO offended! ;)
Yeah and so does the Notre Dame fighting Irish. It perpetuates the stereotype that Irish people are brutes.
You're so right; we're all drunks. ;)
