Jesus loves me!
Growing up in a christian household (two-time a year churchgoers), and having family that is regular church goers and even a sect that is Jehovah's Witness, I have no problem with them really. As long as they just don't make me pray or do anything like that, to each his own. As for why I never took up Jesus myself... I was talking to my sister about it and she said one of the main reasons that she would believe (and a very common one) is that christianity has spread from a carpenter and a couple followers to 2 billion people. This argument is ridiculous to me because Islam pretty much started the same way and both say the other is wrong. In 3rd grade, we all had the realization that a guy saying he is the son of god would be considered crazy today, and a bunch of other simple theological "contradictions" that one sees. The bible says with the rib and this and everyone just assumes that these stories are so ridiculous it must be a sedative for the masses. I have read a lot of excerpts from bible and it has a good message and I don't think it's message and stories are as simple as "Woman made from rib". I read an interesting book about the theory of old-age creation. It is interpreting the bible's word "day" as a day for God, which could have been a million years in our time. I think that it is as entirely plausible as fish turning in to people. Even that famous atheist in england recently came out and said that at this stage in his life, the belief that an intelligent being created the universe seems to be the only one. I believe in God too, but my relationship with him is more "personal". I know what's right and what's wrong and so do most people. There are so many convincing things to me that we're not just a mass of random movements of atoms . Just think about being conscious. Scientists can't really explain consicuosness except in very lame vague terms. They can't explain how we see an image really. I have heard of people who have went to study optometry, found out that there is no real explanation for the way we see images, and have found God. People have a warped view of science today. I am a firm believer in science and rationality, but most people mistakenly believe that science pretty much has an explanation for everything. Science only seems this way because most people don't even get close to education themselves on topics far enough to realize how limited knowledge really is. We have figured out a lot of things and it influences my politicalness everyday. Science: Gays are just born gay. All races are so genetically similar that racism is ridiculous(culture is what separates us, and our cultures have been racially divided because of past ignorance on the differences between races). Liberals are wrong. Do I believe Jesus though was my original question to myself? Well I am undecided, because I have yet to meet Mr. Jesus and all other information from him has been passed through so many people, I have the feeling that part of his message may have gone the way of the classic game of telephone, where "Elvis is the king" ended up as "My pelvis is hurting".
